Choosing a Commercial Deep Fryer
Commercial deep fryers are often the most used pieces of equipment in a restaurant or diner setting. These fryers can perfectly fry different types of foods ensuring that they taste delicious and are cooked properly. But when choosing a particular commercial deep fryer, it's essential to keep several factors in mind before deciding on just one product. It's a good idea to keep your options open when shopping the market and looking for fryers that have everything you need and want while cooking.
The first thing to take into consideration is what the deep fryer will be used for. If you are looking to purchase a deep fryer for a restaurant setting, you will want to make sure that the wells of the fryer are deep enough to hold the food that you are looking to prepare. If you are planning to cook small snack items, medium depth wells are often an ideal choice. However, deep frying turkeys and other larger items is beginning to become a tradition. In the worst case scenario, a shallow welled fryer may cause a fire when you are trying to cook a large item. In the best case scenario, it will not cook your food thoroughly. In both situations, the size of the fryer needs to be large enough to accommodate your needs when cooking, whether this is in a restaurant or in the comfort of your own home. Some deep fryers have two or even three oil wells that you can use.
Always make sure you are wary of a deep fryer's temperature setting. Fryers that have simple on/off switches should be avoided. This feature is often decent for home use, however, most chefs and restaurant workers will want to properly regulate the temperature of the oil being used. A good commercial deep fryer will allow you to completely customize the temperature using numbered digits. Since all foods have to be cooked differently, this ensures that anything you prepare within the fryer is cooked thoroughly. The deep fryer should also have an indicator light or sound that lets you know that the fryer has reached the optimum temperature.
The size of the deep fryer should also be something that is taken into consideration. Keep in mind the area you wish to place the fryer in when shopping for one. It is not recommended to use extension cords for the fryer since this can actually be conductive to starting a fire. If you are planning to place the fryer in an area that is not near an electrical outlet, you will want to purchase one that has a long enough cord to reach the outlet properly. As stated before, keep your options open when looking for a good deep fryer for your restaurant or home.
